What This Part Does

The EPP keyboard is the pad a customer touches to enter a PIN. It sits outside the rest of the cabinet mechanically and logically: the module encrypts the PIN at the point of entry, before the data ever reaches the PC core, and it is the only part in the machine whose job is to destroy its own secrets on command.

445-0735509 is an NCR 5815-class keyboard assembly with the group number 009-0028973. NCR's own service documentation lists it as 5815-F009, EPP-U (P) ARABIC ASSY, for SelfServ 66xx cabinets. The same 5815 class covers the US build (445-0735506, ADA layout) and the International build (445-0735508), which is why the label on the module decides the order.

Like every encrypting PIN pad, this one is built to die on purpose. Trip the tamper circuit — by intrusion, by drilling, or when the internal battery finally gives out — and the module zeroises its keys and locks itself. There is no repair procedure and no reset.
